Obituary for Raymond Joseph McMullen

Ray (Raymond) J. McMullen, Sr., a resident of Sterling Heights and former long time resident of Lake Sherwood and Milford, and owner of Ray�s Landscaping in Walled Lake, Michigan died quietly in his sleep on March 14, 2014 at the age of 74.

He will be sorely missed and is survived by his children Tammy (McMullen) Berryman of Sarasota, Florida, Raymie McMullen of Milford, MI., Debbie (McMullen) Nachtweih of White Lake Michigan and Jami (McMullen) Chechel of Milford, MI. Ray has seven grandchildren, Ashleigh Butler, Alexandra McMullen, Demi Marie McMullen, Donte McMullen, Madison Chechel, Mickey Chechel and MacKenzie Chechel and his great-granddaughter Isabella McMullen. Along with his longtime best friend Robyn Anger.

Ray started his firm, Ray�s Landscaping & Nursery of Walled Lake during high school when he would cut his neighbors lawns. The company grew over the years to be one of the most reputable and well known landscape contracting firms in Southeastern Michigan. Ray was an avid boater, he spent his summertime weekends on his boat on Lake St. Clair with family and many friends and made many memorable trips to Charlevoix. Just back from a week long trip in Maui with his daughter Debbie, Ray loved to travel to warm climates, he especially enjoyed his annual cruises to the Caribbean with his siblings. He always brightened the room with his huge smile enjoying life to its fullest. Ray loved the water, he built homes on Lake Sherwood and Lower Straits Lake, spending the last several years on Loon Lake. He enjoyed water skiing, snow skiing, snowmobiling, raquetball, and his Detroit Tigers (when they were winning).


A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church, 1955 E. Commerce Road, Milford, on Wednesday, March 19, at 10AM.

Friends may visit at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty Street, Milford, on Monday 5-8PM and Tuesday 3-8PM with a Vigil Service on Tuesday at 7PM. Memorials may be made in his name to the Make-a-Wish Foundation.
