Obituary for Raymond Kastelen

Raymond Kastelen, a resident of Commerce Twp., MI, died suddenly on November 17, 2020. He was 63 years old.

Nothing was more important than family to Ray. He took on the burdens of the world to create
a perfect life for his children and wife. He was the most reliable and compassionate man who
never turned anyone away.

Full of love and understanding, he was so incredibly multi-faceted. As intellectually-curious as a professor, he could still put together a motorcycle from the ground up and build an ornately decorated pub in his basement while discussing Nietzsche, Edgar Allen Poe, and Howard Zinn. He was a Lover of music and a fervent Beatles fan who had an amazing gift to bestow some of life's hardest lessons with poise and eloquence.

He was the hardest working man and remained full of honor, modesty and nobility. Always open-minded he loved to travel and make friends around the world from the UK to India and Cambodia. He was dearly dearly loved and will be eternally missed.

Ray is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Ann (nee. Sadler) Kastelen; children, Peter Kastelen, Renee (Grant) Fluegel and Megan Kastelen; mother, Betty (nee. Kersten) Kastelen and brother, Ronald (Colleen) Kastelen as well as many close friends and extended family members.

Ray is preceded in death by his father, Chester Kastelen.
