Obituary for Richard Ervin Rasmussen
Richard E. Rasmussen of Highland passed away on September 24, 2021 at the age of 86.
Loving husband of Amy Rasmussen and the late Janice Rasmussen. Dear father of Paul (Mary) Rasmussen and stepfather of Kendel (Rick) Melbourn, Gus (Alexis Rambaud) Mastrapa and Rachel Mastrapa. Also survived by 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Richard graduated with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the General Motors Institute in 1958 and a M.S. in Instrumentation Engineering from the University of Michigan in 1961. Richard retired from General Motors after 43 years in engineering and management. After retirement, he spent four years as an engineering consultant at M.P. Holcomb Engineering Corporation.
Richard was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church for over fifty years, serving as a Sunday school teacher and on the board of education. Richard served regularly maintaining church properties, played a large role in the Karle pipe organ restoration and was a strong supporter of Alaskan missions and the Christ Lutheran Preschool/Kindergarten.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 1, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, 620 General Motors Road, Milford. Officiating Pastor Andrew Johnson. Burial to follow West Highland Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Lynch and Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty Street, Milford, on Thursday, September 30, 2021 from 3-8 p.m.
Memorial Contributions may be made to The Christ Lutheran Building Fund.
