Obituary for Richard P. McClure

Richard P. McClure, 64, of Milford, passed away August 4, 2011, after a short illness. He received his bachelor of arts degree from Western Michigan University and his juris doctorate from Wayne State University. Admitted to the BAR in 1972, he had a private practice with offices on South Street in Belleville for almost 40 years. A proud Scotsman, he played the bagpipes with the Ann Arbor Pipes and Drum and did competitive piping in Midwest Piping Association events. He also was an active participant in the Detroit area Highland Games for many years. He truly enjoyed his single malt Glenfiddich Scotch whiskey. He was a talented spinner and weaver and made many a Scottish plaid on his loom. He married his college sweetheart Elizabeth Happ in 1968, and together they enjoyed camping in the Upper Peninsula, breeding Siberian Huskies, Alaskan Malamutes and Border Collies. He also did competitive herding with his Border Collies. He was a coin collector and had just completed a coin collection for his granddaughter. He loved gardening and restoring his MGB cars.

In addition to his wife of 43 years, he is survived by son Ian (Melissa), granddaughter Alexis, brother Glenn (Laurie), sister Janice (John) Lapenta, brothers-in-law Robert Happ, Timothy (Susan) Happ, sister-in-law Susan (Robert) Mason and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded by his parents, Paul McClure and Lillian McClure (Robert)Selke. Memorials can be made to the Closer To Home Animal Advocates P.O. Box 2262 Belleville, MI 48112, Paws With A Cause and the Mid-America Border Collie Rescue.

A Funeral Service will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty, Milford, Monday, August 8, at 7PM. Friends may visit Monday 4PM until the time of service. For further information please phone 248-684-6645.
