Obituary for Richard W. Fader

Richard Rick Fader of Plymouth, died Friday, July 9, 2010 in the care of his family and Karmanos Cancer Institute. He was 52 years old. Born on October 9, 1957, he was the son of John and Bettie Fader. He grew up in South Lyon, graduated from South Lyon High School in 1975 and attended Michigan State University before going to work in transportation, serving routes in the midwest and spending most of his career with Conway Transportation driving to Cincinnati and Indiana. In the late 1980s he met Theresa Ford at St. Joseph Church in South Lyon where they were both members. He accepted her invitation to an Eddie Money concert at Pine Knob but conflicts in schedule made him miss that first date. He spent the next couple decades trying to make that up to her. They were married by Fr. Howard Vogan on August 26, 1989 at St. Josephs and settled into their lives raising a son and a daughter in faith and love.
Rick was a man of deep and abiding faith which filled him with a joy for life that was evident in his constant smile, warm friendship and generous ways. It also helped him face the cancer diagnosis, five years ago, which he seemed to transcend, working, playing, living and loving to the fullest right up until he let go of this life to claim another. Rick loved golf and water-sports, music and good food, but more than anything he loved his wife and their son, Stephen and daughter, Colleen, in addition to whom he is survived by his parents, John & Bettie Fader; brothers, James, Matthew, Kenneth, and the late Donald; sisters, Lela Hentzen and JoBeth Reynolds; Theresa's parents, Larry & Donna Ford, many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and a host of friends who join with his family in mourning the death of a good man and giving thanks to God for his life among them.

Funeral Mass will be at St. Genevieve Parish in Livonia (Between Jeffries and 5 Mile Rd., East of Middlebelt) on Wednesday at 11 AM. Fr. Howard Vogan will officiate. Cremation will follow. Friends may visit at church from 10 AM until Mass begins. Friends may also call at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty, Milford, on Monday from 6-9PM and Tuesday from 1-9PM. A Vigil Service will take place at 7 PM. Memorials may be made to Karmanos Cancer Institue or Actor for the Cause of Cardinal Newman, c/o Deacon John Sullivan, 81 Tilden Rd., Marshfield, MA 02050. (Payable to The Actor for the Cause of Cardinal Newman). For further information phone 248.684.6645.
