Obituary for Rick Sanglier

Rick Sanglier, a longtime resident of Milford, died on July 28, 2018 in a tragic motorcycle accident.

Rick was born on November 9, 1953 in Monroe, Michigan, one of four children to Kenneth and Anna (nee. German) Sanglier. Following graduation from Milford High School in 1971, Rick took a few college courses before settling into a long, enjoyable career with Chrysler as a Millwright, until his retirement in 2009.

In the early 1970’s Rick met Donna Dallafior while camping in Caseville — there was an immediate connection and the couple married on October 8, 1977 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Royal Oak. The couple made their home in Milford where they raised their two daughters, Christina and Valerie. Rick has been an active member of All Saints Lutheran Church in Hartland for many years and served as Chair of the Property Committee.

Rick lived each moment with purpose and passion and truly enjoyed his years of retirement. He will be remembered for his strong faith, his stubborn but gentle spirit and his great love for his friends, family and music. He was a well read, self taught, smart man who was a talented builder and a experienced electrician who took pride in helping others and was referred to as “MacGyver” by many. Each day, Rick would do two crosswords, one with his right hand and one with his left to stay balanced and keep his mind sharp. Rick was passionate about the environment and did his best to limit his footprint through recycling, preservation and what could arguably be an award winning lawn and yard. He shared his love of the outdoors and motorcycles with his wife, Donna.

Most of all, Rick’s greatest joys in life were experienced in being a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather. He will be missed by many, especially his wife, Donna; his daughters, Christina Hix and Valerie (Hercules) Novaes; grandchildren, Kennedy, Allie, Brooklyn and Sophia; sisters, Gina (Michael) Sanglier, Debbie (Norm) McCoy; nephews, John and Matt; niece, Liz. Also survived by many loving in-laws, extended family members and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Anna Sanglier and sister, Anita.

Visitation will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty St., Milford on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 from 3-8 PM and Thursday, August 2, 2018 from 3-8 PM.

A Funeral Service will be held at All Saints Lutheran Church, 12701 Highland Rd, Hartland on Friday, August 3, 2018 at 11 AM, with visitation beginning at 10 AM. Cremation will follow. Rev. Denise Russell to officiate.

Memorials may be made in his name to: All Saints Lutheran Church and Arthritis Foundation. For the environmentally friendly, Rick would also love a tree to be planted.

For further information phone Lynch & Sons, Milford at 248-684-6645.
