Rita Ann Bennett, (nee Miller), a resident of Howell, formerly of the Milford and Hartland area, passed away on March 31, 2014. She was 67 years old.
Born in Detroit, Michigan on January 14, 1947, the daughter of John & Hazel Miller, Rita graduated from Cody High School in 1965. On October 25, 1968 she married Robert E. Bennett and made their familys home in Hartland, bordering Milford Township. Rita made her longtime career with Pella Window Company and was the first outside saleswoman for the companys local distribution. She received several awards for her sales prowess over her 31 years with Pella before retiring in October 2011. Rita was also very active within her community, serving as President of Milford Jaycettes from 1980-81 and volunteering with her church family at Milford Presbyterian Church. Rita was famous among her children and grandchildren for her designer pancakes. She was naturally creative and quite talented in the Visual, Musical and Performing Arts. She enjoyed working in oils and charcoals, and singing in the church choir and was also a great tambourine player-making Janis Joplins Me and Bobby McGee one of her regular encores.
In addition to her beloved husband, Bob and their sons, Rob (Leighann) and Ryan (Danielle) Bennett, Rita is survived by her grandchildren, Taylor, Brooke, Nevaeh and Ryder; sister, Pat Roberts, extended family members and many dear friends.
