Obituary for Robert Alarie

Robert Alarie, age 72, passed away in perfect peace on February 29 at his home in Forest Hill Maryland, following a valiant and faith-filled battle with cancer.

Robert was born on St. Patrick’s Day (March 17) in Detroit, Michigan to the late Clayton and Catherine (Shubitowski) Alarie. Robert was the oldest of eight children, one of whom, Cathy Alarie, preceded him in death. Robert graduated from Edsel Ford high school in 1966 and went on to receive his bachelor of electrical engineering degree from the University of Michigan. Robert worked at Ford Motor Company, starting in high school and after college, as an automotive engineer. He later worked as a civilian engineer for the United States Air Force. In 1994, he married the love of his life, Cynthia Araucz, of Farmington Hills Michigan, who referred to him throughout their 25-year marriage as her “anchor.” The couple lived in Royal Oak, Michigan, San Antonio, Texas, and later Forest Hill. Robert dedicated his life to Christ at an early age, then rededicated himself to the Lord Jesus as a young adult. He loved studying the Word of God and took his service to the Lord very seriously. He enjoyed singing and contributed to a number of choirs including - church, the University of Michigan, and the Harford Choral Society. His singular resolve to live a highly principled Christian life, coupled with his extremely patient and gentle spirit, drew many admirers.

In addition to his loving wife, Cindy, Robert is survived by siblings Kenneth Alarie, Constance Geverink, John (Valerie) Alarie, Chris (Thomas) Misco, Andrew (Debbie) Alarie, and Raymond Alarie, in addition to seven nieces and nephews.
