Obituary for Robert "Bob" C. Brown

Robert "Bob" Charles Brown, a resident of Commerce Twp. and formerly a resident of Springfield, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2013 in the loving care of his family. He was 84 years old.

Bob was born on October 13, 1928 in Woodcliff, New Jersey, the only child of Freeman H. and Mildred A. Brown.
Bob enlisted in the United States Army when he was seventeen years old and proudly served two tours of duty in Korea, the second of which was as a combat infantryman during the Korean War. He attended St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where he earned his Bachelor degree in English in 1953. In 1950 he met Eleanor, the love of his life, and they were married on October 10, 1953. That same year of 1953, Bob began his career with Ford Motor Company, which in 1964 moved Bob, Eleanor, and their six children to Michigan where he ultimately completed a thirty-five year career in 1988 as The Divisional Labor Relations Representative.

Bob was an extremely proud father and grandfather who's life was centered on his family. He did his best to bring order and military like precision to a household of eight. A loyal Detroit sports fan, Bob was especially fond of the Tigers. He enjoyed taking many cruises with Eleanor and traveling, whether to far off Europe or up north to Charleviox . At numerous family gatherings where the large brood of children, spouses, grandchildren and pets would always get boisterous, Bob was always cool, calm, and quiet, preferring to remain in the background. He was always comfortable quietly reading his favorite biographies and histories. Bob's outlook on life was simple: Love of family, Love of country, Love of God.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Freeman H. and Mildred A. Brown and is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Eleanor (nee. Bryan); dear children, Robert C., Jr. (Tricia), Lelia (Estaban) Ferrer, Jeffrey (Marci), Elizabeth (Robert) Brown-Striks, Mary Kay (Martin) Vaitkevicius, Amy (Frank) Tartaglia; grandchildren, Christopher, Erica, Charlie, Lucy, Jack, Scott, Brian, Elise, Joseph, Daniel, Rachel, Andrew, Matthew, Paul, Alexander, Lindsey, Michael and many extended family and friends.

A Funeral Service will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty, Milford on Thursday, June 27th at 11 AM. Burial and Military Honors will follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI. Friends may visit the funeral home on Wednesday from 3-8 PM.

Memorial contributions may be made in his name to St. Josephs University, Office of Development and Alumni Relations, 5600 City Ave. Philadelphia, PA 19131
