Obituary for Robert Bob Hodson

Robert "Bob" Hodson, died Wednesday, May 18, 2011, surrounded by his caring family. He was 87 years old.

Bob was born on November 5, 1923 in Philadelphia. He spent his youth in Germantown and Merion, PA where he engaged in numerous shenanigans with his best and lifelong friend, Dutch Buckley. He received an Engineering degree from Johns Hopkins University.
He proudly served in the United States Air Force during World War II from 1943 to 1945 - flying numerous missions over Nazi Germany and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross.

Shortly after returning home from the war, Bob met Reggie Lubaczewski on a lucky Friday the 13th at Yale & Town where they both worked. They were married in 1948 and moved to Chicago with Yale & Town. They returned to Philadelphia where in 1952, their first daughter Christine was born and they purchased their first home. In 1953 daughter #2 Barbara came along.

Bob was a salesman, and his career took him and his family to many new places. In 1956 they moved to Binghamton, NY, then to Elmira, NY and in 1957 Kathy was born. Another move took the family to Berkley Heights NJ, where Peggy was born in January of 1964 and Tricia was born in December that same year not an easy feat for Reggie.

In 1965, the now complete Hodson clan moved to Chagrin Falls, OH where Bob worked for Devro , a division of Johnson & Johnson. In 1971 the nomads moved to Michigan where Bob worked for Hygrade Foods, and later for Exotic Rubber and Plastics.

Over the next 20 years, all the girls married wonderful men. Bob enjoyed the company of all these men and was fortunate to get to know his eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Bob was always very involved in the church. He served as a Eucharistic Minister and Lector on most weekends and chaired many groups within the church. He enjoyed debating many mysteries with the mens group at St. Marys Catholic Church. Alhambra was also a very big part of Bobs life where he served a number of roles including Grand Commander.

After his retirement, Bob volunteered for SCORE in Oakland County where he shared his business expertise, helping many people start and maintain their own small businesses.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of over 63 years, Regina; daughters Christine (Tom) MacNaughton, Barbara (Mark) Gow, Kathleen (Dan) McLean, Peggy (Ken d. 2009) Bohn, Patricia (Rob) Dewar; grandchildren, Justin & Lauren Gow, Erica & Kaitlyn McLean, Patricia & Jennifer Bohn, Robby & Christopher Dewar and great granddaughter, Lily Gow.
