Robert "Bob" L. Janoska of Highland died in the care of his family January 25, 2011. He was 73 years old. Born on New Years Day of 1938 in Philadelphia, he was the son of Victor and Myrtle (nee. Gardner) Janoska. Bob was a graduate of West Point Military Academy, Class of 1961. While at West Point, Bob joined the Glee Club and often spoke fondly of their performance on the Ed Sullivan Show. At age 23, he was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Army spending the next eight years in active duty service to his country in Vietnam. Among his many decorations for service and gallantry, were the Bronze Star and Silver Star. Captain Janoska was honorably discharged in 1969. He returned to Milford, Michigan and went to work at the General Motors Proving Grounds where he worked as an engineer with a special focus on safety, accident reconstruction and crash-testing. In his late forties he suffered his first heart attack and retired after twenty years at the Grounds. He turned his talents to volunteer work with the Boy Scouts of America, speaking at Milford High School with other Vietnam Veterans, the Holly Masonic Lodge #134 F&AM, the Knights Templar and the Milford American Legion Post # 216 where he served as Commander for years and was famous as the caller of Friday Night Bingo matches at the Legion Hall.

In May of 1991, Bob married the love of his life Hazel M. (nee McGregor) and together they shared over 19 years.

To his grandchildren, visiting with Grandpa meant imagination & adventure, "Quests" & costumes! Often they would play with Bob's robot collection or Star Wars and Star Trek memorabilia.
