Obituary for Robert Charles Crawford

Robert C. Crawford, a resident of Davisburg, and former resident of Dearborn Heights and Milford, Michigan, died on November 13, 2018 after a hard fought battle with cancer. He was 72 years old.

Bob was born on March 20, 1946 in Detroit, Michigan, the eldest son of George and Evelyn (Rinklin) Crawford. He grew up in Milford, where he was a graduate of Milford High School, and following high school, he earned a bachelor degree from Lawrence Technological University. He went on to make his career as a Safety Engineer with Ford Motor Company for many years until his retirement in 2001.

Bob was a ham radio operator since 1960 and enjoyed his countless conversations with people from across the world. He also enjoyed woodworking, serving as a Boy Scout Leader, and his duties as the family genealogist. His research documented over 37,000 members of the Crawford family, and his family’s migration from Scotland to Northern Ireland and to the United States where the family settled in Milford to farm the land.

Bob met Betty Ann Dull in August of 1962 at a community pool in Dearborn. They married on June 27, 1970 and made their home in Dearborn Heights, before moving to Davisburg fourteen years ago. Bob’s love for Betty Ann was exemplified through the great care he gave her through their forty eight years together. He was ever kind and generous and full of life, even through his last three years battling cancer. His presence could light up a room and his jokes were full of his great humor and intelligence. He will be dearly missed.

In addition to Betty Ann, his beloved wife of over forty-eight years, he is survived by his brothers, Gerald A. (Marlynn) Crawford and Charles S. (Linda) Crawford; mother-in-law, Betty Dull; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Margaret Lasky and family, Ernie (Marlene) Dull, Mary Frances Wagner, Henry Wagner and family, and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Evelyn Crawford of Milford.

Visitation will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty St., Milford, on Friday, November 16, from 3-8PM with a Vigil Service at 7PM. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at Church of the Holy Spirit, 3700 N. Harvey Lake Road, Highland, on Saturday, November 17, at 11AM with visitation beginning at 10AM. Following a luncheon at the church, graveside services will be held at Milford Memorial Cemetery in Milford. Memorials may be made in his name to Boy Scouts Troop 43 of Holly.
