Obituary for Robert H. Kuehnle

Robert H. Kuehnle, a resident of Milford, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 27, 2010. He was 82 years old. Born on June 17, 1927 to Donald and Katheryn (nee Hughes) Kuehnle, Bob and his 3 siblings grew up in Toledo, Ohio. Just prior to his nineteenth birthday he was drafted in the US Army and served as a radioteletype technician with the 153rd Airways and Air Communications Service Squadron. He was discharged April 2, 1947 and began work as a carpenter then with the United States Postal Service. Bob would later join Ford Motor Company, and was with them for 37 years before his retirement in 1989. He met Dorothy Roeske on a blind date and they fell in love. The sweethearts were married on May 27, 1950 and soon settled into building their own family. Blessed with six children through the years, Vicki Rae, Marc Edwin, Tina Ann, Cindi Kay, Anna Christina and Joel Robert, the Kuehnle household was always full of life and laughter and love with Bob at the heart of it all.

A true renaissance man, Bob was as comfortable with a paintbrush in his hand as he was with woodworking tools, a crochet hook, a fishing pole or video games. He enjoyed a good book, never passed up a round of golf with his friends and made an annual fishing trip up to Canada where he would catch enough to bring home for the big family fish fry. He and Dorothy took many vacations over the years; he loved taking her places and going to Myrtle Beach for the winter and driving his Lincoln all over. Bob and Dorothy were also very active members of Christ Lutheran Church and he sang in the choir there for many years. Whether he was surrounded by his ever-growing family with seventeen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren or enjoying some quiet time with just Dorothy by his side, he was ever mindful of the many blessings he'd been given throughout his life. With Dorothy beside him, and the family they raised surrounding them both, Bob looked to the Lord to be his guide in all things great and small. He was a wonderful husband, loving father, doting grandfather and a great friend. Bob will be missed by all who knew him and his legacy will be one of great love and deep faith.

Preceded in death by his daughter, Vicki and son, Marc, Bob is survived by Dorothy, his beloved wife of 60 years, daughters, Tina (Russell) Hayden, Cindi (Edward) Suidan, Anna (Michael) Clark; son, Joel (Wendy) Kuehnle; grandchildren, Marc Jr (Amanda), Michael, Christina Hamilton (Jason), Vicki Stewart (Brian) , Megan, Chase Courtney, Crystal, Brandon Calkins (Lynette), Amber, Katherine, Sarah, Caleb, Madison, Alexzander, BenJamin and Cecily and six great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his sisters and brother, Margaret (Walter) Rybak, Donald Kuehnle, Marion (Frank) Weaver, many loving extended family members, dear friends from Christ Lutheran Church and a host of others who come together to mourn his death and celebrate a life well lived.
