Obituary for Robert John McKinnon

Robert John McKinnon, of Milford, Highland, Wixom, and recently Auburn Hills, passed away December 16, 2011. He was 26 years old.

Born April 7, 1985 in Southfield, Michigan, Rob was one of two sons born to parents Terry John and Joan F. (nee. Juzek) McKinnon. Rob and his big brother Jeff were raised in Milford and Wixom with their mother, and also in Highland with their father, step-mother Lisa, and sister Lindsi. Rob attended Orchard Lake St. Mary's Preparatory high school where he participated in crew as a coxswain, then graduating from from Lawrence Technology High School enjoying all the challenges of math and computer science. Rob's specialty was in web design and he recently became a freelance back-end web developer. His expertise was sought after and his work was exceptional.

Rob had an adventurous spirit and enjoyed countless activities such as karate, baseball, wrestling, and gymnastics. In middle school, Rob learned to appreciate dance when he was invited to participate in the upperclassmen's production of 'Annie.' From then on, Rob enjoyed dancing whether that was in formal class or casually around his home. Rob was interested in exploring his Scottish heritage and learning all he could about the five originals clans of Scotland, of which the McKinnon's were one. Rob was a man of great spirit and faith. He was thoughtful and deliberate in his beliefs and considerations.

Rob was preceded in death by grandmothers Barbara Juzek and Charlotte McKinnon. In addition to his father Terry (Lisa) McKinnon and mother Joan (Michael Honka) McKinnon, Rob is survived by his brother Jeffrey (Lana Call) McKinnon; sister Lindsi (Keith Johnson) Blaha; grandparents Joseph (Beatrice) Greer; also many aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.

Funeral Service will be held from Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty St., Milford on Wednesday, December 21st, 11 AM. Pastor Terry Claus to officiate. Burial Milford Memorial Cemetery, Milford. Friends may visit Tuesday, December 20th from 4 - 9 PM. Rosary Tuesday 8 PM led by the Rev. Fr. Timothy Whalen.
