Robyn Lee Dierkes, a resident of Jacksonville, Florida, passed away in the care of her family on October 18, 2014. She was 55 years old.
Born April 26, 1959 in St. Louis, Missouri, Robyn was one of six children raised by mother Donna and Richard Roy and father Chuck, Sr. and Karen Dierkes.
As a young child, Robyn lived with her family in Missouri, Oklahoma, and New Jersey before moving to Farmington, MI in 1971. She attended Farmington High School and graduated in 1977. At the age of 30, Robyn joined the U.S. Navy and served her country proudly in a variety of capacities for eleven years. She was honorably discharged in 2000 and continued to work as a Laboratory Information Systems Supervisor at Bethesda Naval Hospital in Maryland and continued advancing this career at the Jacksonville Naval Hospital in Florida where she moved in 2013.
Working with information systems day in and day out was not enough to satisfy Robyns love of computers. She would often spend her free time learning from her son, Justin, various tips and tricks for the latest and greatest computer and video games. This was her way of connecting and being involved in her sons passionate interest in these activities. While not on the computer, Robyn also loved to bake, and many people who were lucky enough to enjoy her culinary talents will especially miss her famous seven-layer bars and sticky buns!
In addition to Justin, her loving son, Robyn is survived by her mother, Donna (Richard) Roy and father, Chuck (Karen) Dierkes, Sr.; siblings Cheryl (James) Lathrop, Wendy (Roy) Groover, Chuck (Beth) Dierkes, Jr., Christopher Dierkes, and Karly Dierkes; nieces and nephews Ian and Brendan Lathrop, Joshua and Jordan Groover, Jaclyn and Charlie Dierkes, and Addison Dierkes. Many aunts and uncles, extended family and friends join in mourning Robyns passing and giving thanks to God for her life among them.
Funeral Liturgy will be held from St. Mary Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church, 1955 E. Commerce St., Milford, on Thursday, October 23 at 10:45 AM. Msgr. John Budde to officiate. Gathering at the church prior to Mass will begin Thursday at 10:15 AM. Honors and burial will follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly.
Friends may visit at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty St., Milford on Wednesday from 4-9 PM.
