Roger J. “Bubba” Malinowski, 74, of White Lake, Michigan, passed away on Wednesday, November 10, 2021.
Roger, or “Bubba”, as he was best known, was a man that people loved to be around. Whether he captured your attention with a story, a joke or with his infectious laughter and smile, you were just drawn to him as the life of the party. Bubba lit up a room but always made you feel important and appreciated.
He was born in Detroit, Michigan on the Ides of March, March 15, 1947, the oldest of five children of the late Henry and Irene Malinowski. Growing up in Redford, Michigan, Bubba graduated from Salesian High School in Detroit where he lettered in football. His love of football stayed with him throughout life and remained an avid University of Michigan sports fan. He was very proud of his Polish heritage and celebrated it with food and drink with family and friends, often. His parents instilled in him their lifelong values and the importance of family which are evident in his children and grandchildren today. Family was everything!
Bubba married the love of his life, Cathy Still, and was proudly married for 55 years, raising two boys, later blessed with five grandchildren. The accomplishments of Roger's grandchildren and the children of his siblings were his lifeline of pride and joy.
Roger worked for Detroit Diesel along with other family members, retiring after over 35 years with the company. He and Cathy enjoyed retirement together, traveling back and forth to Fort Myers, Florida visiting family and friends. They also enjoyed traveling throughout Michigan, and just taking a drive with no destination in mind. Bubba made friends wherever he went, and always seemed to find that he knew someone, wherever they were. His gift of gab and charismatic ways always left people smiling and sharing what a great man he was. He loved enjoying the peaceful beauty of nature and bird watching. Bubba was well loved by all whoever crossed his path, and will never be forgotten.
Beloved husband of Cathy for 55 years. Loving father of Randy Malinowski (Jennifer Gumiela) and Jeff Malinowski (Denise). Devoted grandfather of Faith, Alina, Grant, Ella, and Nolan. Dear brother of Wayne Malinowski (Karen), Kevin Malinowski (Malinda), Jan Legel (Jeff), and Paul Malinowski (Erin). Also survived by his former daughter-in-law Samantha Malinowski, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
