Obituary for Ronald James Chapp

Ronald (Ron) James Chapp of Milford, Michigan died at Huron Valley Hospital on Monday 14, 2021 in the care of his wife, son, daughter, daughter-in-law and son-in-law. He was two days shy of 75 admirable years.

Ron was born on June 16, 1946 in Detroit, Michigan, where he lived with his sister Arlene Karr and parents Anthony and Rose Chapp. He graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1964 and obtained a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from the University of Detroit in 1969. He continued his education at University of North Carolina and at Oakland University.

Ron lived in different areas of Detroit until he was 23 years of age at which point he married the love of his life, Sandra (Sandy) Jean Chapp on May 29, 1970. He moved from Detroit to Greensboro, North Carolina for the first period of his marriage where his son Jeffrey James Chapp was born on June 29, 1971. Ron and Sandy moved back to Grosse Pointe, Michigan in 1972 and then to Troy, Michigan in 1973. While living in Troy, his daughter Veronica Anne Chapp (now Veronica Miller) was born on June 15, 1976. Ron and Sandy moved from Troy to Rochester Hills, Michigan in 1995 after his son graduated from college and his daughter graduated from high school. Ron and Sandy then moved to Milford in 2010, where they lived during their retirement years.

Ron worked at Bell Labs Ballistic Missiles, for the Department of Housing and Urban Development, and for the Department of Defense where he worked for over 30 years and eventually retired in 2012.

Ron loved being with his family at his cottage outside Cheboygan, Michigan, which he managed the construction of and helped build along with immediate family members in 1981. He had an appreciation for various genres of music and various forms of art. He enjoyed watching old western shows and detective type movies. Some of his favorite activities were: playing games with grandchildren; fishing; studying, viewing, and caring for trees of various types, especially evergreens; and had a deep love for researching family ancestry.

Ron was deeply in love with Sandy, and had respect for and was respectful to all people. Ron was loved by so many and will forever be missed.
