Obituary for Ronald Joseph Slampak

With heavy hearts, we are so very sorry to share the passing of our father Ronald J. Slampak. He passed away quickly and did not suffer. For those that knew him, he was a man of few words but was always there for his friends and family. Our entire family is in a state of shock. We appreciate the out pouring of support from our friends and family during this most difficult time.

Ronald J. “Papa” Slampak was born in Uniontown, Pennsylvania in 1941 to Albert J. and Elizabeth M. Slampak. He graduated from Uniontown High School in 1959. Following high school he attended West Virginia University. On May 11, 1963 Ronald married the love of his life, Edna Foster. He earned a both a Bachelor's of Science and Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering at West Virginia University in 1966.

Upon graduating from WVU, Ron and Edna (with baby) relocated to Michigan in 1966 with virtually nothing. Both were nervous and scared having no friends and family in Michigan. Over the course of 50 years, Ron and Edna expanded their family and developed life long relationships with loving friends, creating a wonderful life together.

Ron ended up having a very successful career spanning 35 years at Ford Motor Company.

Edna worked over 20 years working with Special Needs Children in Farmington Public Schools.

Ronald enjoyed classic cars, cruising, car shows, sports and most of all, the times spent with his dear grandkids.

He is survived by his beloved wife Edna; loving children, Jane (Peter) Solar, Ron (Katie) Slampak and Susan (Rob) Tracy; grandchildren, Courtney Ann, Danielle, RJ, Haley Marie, Robbie and Mia. Also survived by many loving extended family members and dear friends.

A Memorial Mass will be held at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 4300 Walnut Lake Road, West Bloomfield on Thursday, November 17, 2016 at 11 AM. The Rev. Fr. Ronald J. Jozwiak to officiate.
