Obituary for Sally Ann Martin

Sally Ann Martin, a resident of Commerce Township, passed away at her home on March 5, 2009. She was 70 years old. Sally was born on October 7, 1938 in Detroit to Edward and Edith (nee Jensen) Smith. She graduated from Detroit Pershing High, Class of 57. Sally met and married her husband, Ronald, and they would begin their family with the birth of their daughter Teri, soon to be followed by her two brothers, Kevin and Brad. Sally was a homemaker and avid fan of all her childrens interests from softball, to being a devoted hockey mom. Not only did she love watching her children play sports, but special friendships were created with the many families that she encountered. Through her long illness with multiple sclerosis she is remembered as a great mom who was upbeat, never negative, and happy-go-lucky to her family and friends. Some of her closest and dearest lifelong friends were her neighborhood girlfriends from Detroit, the Sigma Phi club. They have a special bond together and still get together any chance they get. There are also the many great memories she had of camping in Pentwater, MI and being at the pool over at her brother and sister-in-laws, Richard and Shirley. Sally was happiest when surrounded by her family and particularly her grandchildren, who affectionately called her little grandma. There were many times that she would sit and color or play games with them.
Married for 43 years, Sally would lose her beloved Ronald to cancer in the summer of 2008. Her love of family kept her going through many years of poor health, and it is in her strength she will be missed and remembered.
Sally is survived by her loving children Teri, Kevin, and Brad (Jill); little grandma of Tyler, Dylan, and Bryce; pseudo little grandma of Devon, Drake, Skylar, Caden, and Abby. Sister of Joyce Judson, sister-in-law of Richard Beagle, Dorothy Martin, Roy Smith, and Virginia Martin. She also leaves many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

A Funeral Service will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty, Milford, on Monday, March 9th, at 10AM. Friends may visit Sunday 1-8PM. For further information please phone 248-684-6645.
