Sandra Kaye Pfahlert (Sharpe) nee Zachow, a resident of Clarkston and former resident of Milford, died on Friday, July 25, 2008 in Clarkston, Michigan. She was 64 years old. Born in Detroit on May 4, 1944, Sandi was the oldest of Herbert & Dorothy Zachow, Jr.s five children. She grew up on Canal Street in Milford and graduated from Milford High School in June of 1963. Shortly following graduation she was married to her high school sweetheart, Gordon Stanley Sharpe and began her life as a mother in Milford. Sandi & Gordon were blessed with the births of two sons, James Matthew & Jared Thomas and a daughter, Victoria Leigh and remained in Milford to raise their family. Sandi would suffer losing Matthew in his infancy and Tom in 1990. That same year marked the Sharpe familys move from Milford & Highland Township to numerous homes, including Waterford & Pontiac. Holding a Bachelors degree in Psychology, Sandi was also very knowledgeable in computer communications. She enjoyed her work as a Customer Service Representative for Comcast for several years before her health forced her to take medical retirement. Following her first marriage, she would find love again through her online correspondence with William Pfahlert and after arranging to meet for the first time in person the cyber sweethearts soon fell in love and married on October 9, 2004. Mrs. Pfahlert had enjoyed living with her husband in the Clarkston community until her most recent ailments required the full time attention and care of her daughter while under hospice at Vickis home.
Sandi, well known to many as Ma or Nana, made everyone feel welcomed. She maintained the warmth of her home with an open door policy and was quick to remind new guests that she would happily serve you, but if you revisited, you should help yourself. She loved animals, never turned away a stray and was elated at the sight of cardinals. Her talents in craft making & fine arts expanded through the years to include ceramics, multi-media painting, knitting & crochet and other works often shown and sold at craft shows. Above all of her handmade creations, she was most grateful for Gods. Through her trials and triumph, the great love from her family & friends reflected the unending ways in which she graced the lives of those around her.
In addition to her sons, Sandra was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Zachow. She is survived by her beloved husband, Bill Pfahlert; loving daughter, Vicki Leigh (the late Timothy) Lovejoy; step-children, Debbie (Russ) Jewell, Rick (Kathy) Pfahlert, Dennis (Peggy) Pfahlert, Diane (Mark) Willing, Beth (Mike) Galligan, Mary (Pat) Johnson, Sean Pfahlert; several grandchildren, including Brittni, Kyle, Barbara, Tyler and Casey; 3 great-grandchildren and a fourth great-grandchild expected in January; her father, Herbert Red Zachow, Jr.; brothers, Jim (Sue) Zachow, Doug (Julie) Zachow, Rick (Kim) Zachow; sister, Cathy Zachow (Steve) Purdy and numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.
