Obituary for Sarah Elizabeth Bollinger

Sarah Elizabeth “Sally” Bollinger, a former resident of Milford, Michigan and Las Vegas, Nevada, passed on January 16, 2019 at the age of 87.

Sally Bollinger was born February 20, 1931 in Altoona, Pennsylvania. Growing up, Sally loved to roller skate at the local rolladium and the first movie she saw in a theatre was a Shirley Temple film. Sally was married to her husband, Gerald in 1950 and they celebrated 59 years of marriage prior to his passing. Together they had 3 children; son, Steve and two daughters, Debbie and Mary Kay. Her husband’s job moved them to Michigan in the 1950’s, where they settled down in Milford from 1956-2003 and where Sally worked for many years as a secretary. She also became the Women’s Auxiliary President for the local American Legion Post 216 and eventually became president of the entire 18th district! Gerald and Sally loved traveling the country and In 2003 they moved to Las Vegas, where they lived for much of their retirement. Sally moved into Independence Village of White Lake 5 years ago and enjoyed the Friday night Bingo, knitting and crocheting on Tuesdays, and musical entertainment. Sally’s main hobbies were knitting and crocheting and making cards for all occasions on her computer. Sally was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She will be forever missed.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of over fifty-nine years, Gerald (d. 2009) and her daughter, Mary Kay (d. 1988). She is survived by her son, Steve (Linda) of Commerce Twp.; her daughter, Debbie (Todd, d. 2017) McDermott of Milford; grandchildren, Roy, Chad, Tiffany, Stefanie, Lauren and Stephen; great grandchildren, Camden and Calee as well as several nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.

A Funeral Service will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty, Milford, on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 11:00 AM with gathering to begin at 10:00 AM. The Rev. Paul Thwaite officiating. Burial will follow at Milford Memorial Cemetery. Friends may visit on Friday, January 18, 2019 from 3-8 PM.

Memorials may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society and the Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund
