Obituary for Sharon Terpe

Sharon Lynn Cece Terpe, of Milford and Harrisville, died peacefully with family on November 26, 2014. She was 79. Sharon, called Momerd by her nine grandchildren and one great granddaughter, and Sharla by friends, was married for 55 years to Alexander M. Terpe. Sharon was a poet, writer, and passionate family chronicler. Sharon edited a beloved family cookbook its many copies confidently poured through by family members looking for photos, family history, poetry and Grams recipe for gingerbread and hard sauce.

She was the first of seven children of Marjorie Pemberton Cece and Anthony Joseph Cece, Jr. Born in Detroit June 11, 1935, she was a lifelong ambassador for her beloved hometown, and an enthusiastic guide to its architectural and cultural treasures.

During her childhood, Sharon spent weekends and summers with her siblings and cousins at their grandparents farm in the Village of Milford. She and Alex were overjoyed when, on a Sunday drive, they spotted a handmade For Sale sign on a Greek Revival farmhouse in Milford Township. The farmhouse was their home for more than 30 years.

Sharon loved animals, and provided food and shelter to stray cats that found their way to her door. She was a member and past president of the Huron Valley Genealogical Society.

Sharon is survived by her children, Tracy (Christopher) Lark, Vincent (Phatchara) Terpe, Angel (Peter) Matheson, and Ashley (Fred) Whitt, grandchildren Tenley Lark, Connor Lark, Alexander Lark, Dayo Terpe, Jackson Matheson, Parker Matheson, Sullivan Matheson, Saxon Whitt and Kennedy Whitt, great granddaughter Payton Lark, sister Susan Cece MacVicar, and brothers Michael and Richard, and a large, devoted family, including many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Alexander, brother Anthony Cece III, and sisters Marjorie and Nikki.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 13, 2014 at Lynch and Sons Funeral Home 404 East Liberty Milford MI 48381. The family requests that donations in her honor be sent to the Michigan Humane Society at Michigan Humane Society, 30300 Telegraph Road Suite 220, Bingham Farms, MI 48025.
