Obituary for Sherril K. Toburen

Sherril Kay Toburen, a resident of Hartland and native of Fenton, Michigan died at her home in the care of her family on December 3, 2014 after a valiant battle with cancer. She was 61 years old.

Born May 11, 1953 in Flint, Michigan, Sherril was one of eight children to parents Glenda and Howard Stark. Sherril and her siblings were raised in the Fenton community where she graduated from Fenton High School.

Sher began her career at the newly opened Hudson Department Store in the Twelve Oaks Mall in Novi. She went on to work for Hudsons for over twenty years in the womans shoe department. More recently, Sher enjoyed working with LaFontaine in Highland where she assisted with reception and customer service and sold her handmade jewelry at the boutique. Sher LOVED being around people, and she made friends easily with her kindness, big smile and warm heart.

In her marriage to Bill, Sher felt doubly blessed that she not only met the love of her life, but also, that she was welcomed into a large extended family. To her nieces and nephews, she was known as Aunt Sheralways ready to entertain with her talents and fun-loving personality.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Rick Sloan.
