Obituary for Siro J. Costantini

Siro J. Costantini, a longtime resident of Milford and a former resident of Detroit, died peacefully in his home on March 10, 2017, surrounded by his family. He was 89 years old.

Siro was born on December 28, 1927, at home in Detroit, the eldest child of three to Italian immigrants, Angelo and Maddelena Costatini. Like his parents, Siro was a true American and was ever proud of his Italian heritage. He fondly remembered the Italian spoke in the house, the games from Italy he played as a child and with his children, as well as the joys of making wine with his father. Wine making was a talent and tradition he in turn passed on to his family and enjoyed with many friends.

Following graduation from Chadsey High School in Detroit, Siro served in the United States Army for eighteen months, stationed in Washington and later earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from Lawrence Tech. Upon his return to Detroit in 1947, Siro was introduced to the love of his life, the young Janet Studzinski, at a weekend dance. After a four year courtship, Siro and Janet were married on June 28, 1952 at St. Cecelia’s in Detroit.

For forty-six years, Siro enjoyed a successful career at Ford Motor Company. The family made their home in Detroit, Dearborn Heights and Cincinnati before making their home in Milford in 1978. A Ford family through and through, Siro’s father, Angelo and brother, Antonio, also enjoyed a long career with Ford.

Siro was and “old fashioned Italian” who was driven, goal-oriented, down to earth and never gave up. He focused his life on hard work, good food and wine. He loved to golf, create gourmet meals and hunt pheasant and deer on Saturdays. Most of all, Siro was was passionate about life and his faith. His greatest joys were his family—he was a loving and affectionate husband, an involved, proud and caring father and an adored grandfather.

He will especially be missed by Janet, his wife of sixty four years; daughter, Deborah (Jeff) Spencer; son, Michael (Jane); grandchildren, Natalie Spencer, Rachel (Mike) McKenzie, Meredith (Drew) Fortney and Gabriela, Mike, Danny, Jacob Costantini; great-grandchildren,Dorothy and Matilda McKenzie, Jackson Fortney and Lilly Costantini; sister, Rina and many dear extended family members and friends.
