Stanley V. Kuplicki, a long time resident Highland, passed away at his home on November 14, 2008. He was 85 years old. Born in Detroit on June 10, 1923, one of five children of Stanley Vincent Kuplicki and Hedwig (Rotzel) Kuplicki, Stan grew up in Detroit. After high school he worked a short time for Packard, before serving in the U.S. Navy and later the Civilian Conservation Corps in the upper peninsula. On April 14, 1945 he married the love of his life, Margaret Osinski, at St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church in Detroit. They began their family in Detroit, and Stan worked as a machine repairman for the GM Hydromatic Plant in Willow Run. They were very active members of St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. Stan was a big part of the church, where he served as an usher, was President of the Dads Club, the bowling league secretary, an umpire for the youth baseball leagues, and planned many of the sports banquets.
In 1985, and after 39.3 years with General Motors, Stan retired, and he and Margaret moved to Highland where they joined Church of the Holy Spirit. As he was at St. Peter & Paul, Stan was a devoted member of Holy Spirit, serving as an usher, was a member of the Mens Club and the Knights of Columbus, from which his family received a Family of the Year Award in 2005 and from which he was the recipient of the Knight of the Year Award earlier this year. Everybody loved Stan, and his conversation and humor will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his son, James Kuplicki of Auburn Hills; daughters, Diane (Michael) Zalac of Walled Lake, Janet (Don) Carrier of Canton, and grandchildren, Jaime Zalac and Jen (Jeff) Williams. Also surviving are his sisters, Caroline (the late John) Arbogast, Martha Kuplicki, and many dear friends.
He was preceded in death by a son, Richard Kuplicki, a daughter, Laura Kuplicki, and his beloved wife, Margaret, in 1998.
