Obituary for Susan Kay Trevas

Susan Kay Trevas

July 19, 1933

Born in Detroit, Michigan to Liston Eugene Bryan and Margaret Edith Bryan (nee.Runyan).

Preceded in death by her parents, her brother Robert Bryan and her loving husband Donald Richard Trevas. Sue was a wonderful mother to her four children. She is survived by them: Kevin Trevas, Kenneth Trevas (Kim Trevas), Karen Antrim (William Antrim), and Kristin Alafita (Mark Alafita).

A tremendous joy in her life were her seven grandchildren. Sue was an amazing “grammy” to Kyle Trevas, McKenzie Trevas, Donovan Trevas, Sabrina Alafita, Claire Alafita, Christopher Antrim and Joseph Antrim.

Sue met Don while on a ski trip with the Ford Thunderbird Ski Club and they were married in 1956. They had a glorious life together for over thirty-nine years. They raised their family in Farmington Hills and after that spent many happy years together in a house on Commerce Lake. She loved being active. At the family chalet in Gaylord, Michigan and in later years at Twin Beach Golf Club. Through her life she spent time golfing, skiing, tennis, walking and teaching her kids how to water ski.

Sue’s talent for sewing was her hallmark. She started sewing her own beautiful clothes as a teenager. If she was not making kids clothes, Halloween customers, doll clothes, wedding veils, or her daughter’s wedding dress, she would be hemming, repairing, or altering for herself or others. Sue was always there to lend a hand. She volunteered at Huron Valley Hospital, Meals on Wheels, Red Cross blood drives and many church functions.

Always a lover of music, Sue never turned down a chance to go to a concert and was a season ticket holder to her beloved Detroit Symphony Orchestra. As her grandchildren grew, she would never miss a musical, recital or concert.

But most of all, Sue loved being around her kids, her grandkids and her friends. She will be deeply missed at her weekly bible study and card games with her friends.
