Theresa May Wasiel, of Highland, passed away on June 2nd, 2022. She was 80 years old.
Theresa May Beninati Wasiel was born in Detroit, MI on December 20, 1941 to parents Charles and Providence (Pearl) Beninati. Theresa birthed five children whom she loved dearly. Vince, Debra, Cherie, William and David. She enjoyed five grandchildren: Lindsey, Donovan, Dylan, Jon, and Jamie. She was also blessed with four great -grandchildren: Amelia, Nolan, Emma and Caden.
On May 31, Theresa headed into a complex heart surgery with the bravery of a young warrior; confident Jesus knew what He was doing. She was not yet aware that Jesus was claiming her for Himself. On June 2, after 51 hours and 20 minutes of fighting, Terry surrendered to her Heavenly Father. Those lucky enough to call her friend, or mom, or sister, or cousin, or aunt, or grandma or great-grandma were thankful to enjoy her for 80 healthy years!
Always a busy young mother, Theresa didn’t let her active life deter her from finishing high school in her 50s and attending some college. She was led by Christ to write and illustrate a book and two songs.
Theresa loved and greeted everyone with a smile and maybe a verse about Christ. She enjoyed the little things: her baubles, angels, butterflies, jewelry, bells, scripture, roses, prayer group, journaling, drawing and traveling with friends. She celebrated her milestone year with BFFs Connie and Vicky in Florida last winter. She kept her cosmetology license current through her last year of life. She was also led by the Lord to work at a senior residence home for fifteen years where she had the joy of sharing her love of Jesus.
Her fur baby, Jesse, was a gift from Connie and he will be well loved for Theresa at his new home with Cheri and her family in Phoenix, AZ.
Like others, Theresa experienced several hardships. Whatever she experienced, she never lost her faith in Jesus and He guided her life.
Daughter of the late Charles and Pearl Beninati, Theresa is survived by her children, Debra Olson, Cherie Wasiel, William Wasiel Jr., and David Wasiel; grandchildren, Donovan Olson, Dylan (Robyn) Olson, Jon Wasiel, Jose Wasiel, Genesis Wasiel-Jones, Jaime (Lyle) Villa Warner, and Lindsey Ringuette; great grandchildren, Caden Olson, Nolan and Emma Ringuette, and Amelia McCormick; brothers, Joseph Beninati, and Charles (Cinda) Beninati II; her beloved dog, Jesse; Theresa’s church family from Cornerstone in Highland; also many extended family and dear friends.
Theresa is preceded in death by her son, Vincent Villa; sister, Sabastiana “Bessie” Allen.
