Obituary for Thermon A. "Junior" Fletcher

Thermon A. Junior Fletcher, a resident of Milford for over fifty-one years, died on October 17, 2008. He was 76 years old.
He is survived by Rosemary, his beloved wife of fifty-six years; children, Sharon (Perry) Harris, Joan Stallworth, Shirley (Reginald) Snyder, Doreen Potter, Debbie Jones, Sandy (Claude) Townsend, James Fletcher, Duane (Lori) Fletcher and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Also surviving are his sisters, Virginia Mortimer, Ina Clark, and Sally (Norm) Kohlmyer; and a brother, Marion Fletcher. He was preceded in death by sisters, Eunith Fletcher and Joan Trabue and brothers, Otis, Dallas, and Richard Fletcher.
Born on October 15, 1932 in Redford, Michigan, the son of Thermon and Bessie (Myers) Fletcher, Junior grew up with his nine brothers and sisters in New Hudson and was a graduate of South Lyon High School. It was on a blind date that he met Rosemary Steele. They fell in love and married on November 29, 1952 in Chelsea, Michigan, shortly before Junior would leave to serve his country during the Korean War. Months later, and after a medical discharge from service, he returned home to Rosemary and Ann Arbor where he and Rosemary made their first home. They later moved to New Hudson before settling in Milford in 1957. They raised eight children and Junior worked as a truck driver and heavy equipment operator with his brother Dallas company, Fletcher-Rickard in New Hudson. In later years, he worked on the grounds and assisted with maintenance at the Hock Acres Golf Range and at the Pebble Creek Golf Course in South Lyon.
Some of his favorite time was spent gardening, and he loved gardening with his friend, Harry, with whom he kept quite a garden in Lyon Township. He also enjoyed watching the History channel, the Sci-Fi channel, old war movies, and all different kinds of sporting events.
He will be sorely missed by his family and friends, and everyone at the New Hudson Inn who will miss seeing Junior come in.

A Funeral Service will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty, Milford, on Wednesday, October 22, at 11AM. Burial will follow at Milford Memorial Cemetery. Friends may visit Tuesday 2-9PM. Memorials may be made in his name to the American Lung Association. For further information please phone 248-684-6645.
