Obituary for Thomas B. Dostie

Thomas B. Dostie, Navy Veteran and retired Firefighter from Southfield Fire Department, a resident of Milford and native of Royal Oak, passed peacefully, surrounded by his family, on February 22, 2020 after a valiant battle with pulmonary fibrosis. He was 76 years old. 

He is survived by his beloved wife of thirty years, Ruth Dostie; his daughter, Rebecca (Courtney Edge); his son, Jeff (Sarah); stepsons, John (Wei) Trenkle and James (Sandi) Trenkle; grandchildren, Ashley (David) Collins, Cortney (Mike) Collins, Madison Gibson and her father, Steve Gibson, Charlee and Teddee Trenkle, Samantha (Kyle) Bambach and Jason Trenkle; brother, George Dostie; sisters, Grace Dostie and Mary (Dennis) Norton; sisters-in-law, Marian Hesse, Anne Corley and Ruth Dostie. He is also survived by many nieces, including, Lynne, whom he considered his sister; many nephews, including David and Alan, to whom he was a father figure, as well as extended family members and many dear friends, including his best friend of over forty years, Pete (Diane) Healy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Isabelle (nee. Beck) Dostie; siblings, Cameron, Marge and David; sister-in-laws, Louise Wirth, Nancy N. Dostie and brother-in-law, Ray Bennett.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to Great Lakes Burn Camp (providing a unique experience that promotes healing, self-esteem, confidence, and general well-being for burn injured children), P.O. Box 6189, Jackson, MI 49204.

Memorial Visitation will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty St., Milford DATE & TIME PENDING. A Memorial Service will be held at the funeral home DATE & TIME PENDING. Interment to follow at Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly.
