Obituary for Thomas M. Fisher

Thomas M. Fisher, a resident of Commerce Township and long time resident of Milford, died on September 8, 2013. He was 85 years old.
Born on September 12, 1927 in Independence, Missouri the son of George Prewitt Fisher and Julia Marie Cole Fisher, Tom grew up in Independence. After serving in the U.S. Army as a Drill Instructor at Fort Dix in New Jersey, he attended William Jewell College and later earned his Mechanical Engineering Degree from the University of Kansas. Independence, Missouri was also the hometown of Leota �Lee� Alton, his school sweetheart. They married on June 5, 1951, and shortly after the couple moved to Milford, Michigan where Tom began his career as an engineer with the General Motors Proving Ground. He later moved to the Warren Tech Center where he served as the Director of Environmental Activities Staff. He retired in 1986. Tom and Lee have been devoted and long time members of the Milford Presbyterian Church.

In addition to Leota �Lee�, his beloved wife of 62 years, he is survived by his children, Sharon (John) Liddell, Thomas Kevin Fisher, Pamela (Gary) Fisher Durante, and Matthew Alton Fisher; grandchildren, John T. Liddell, Elizabeth Cole Durante and Katherine Alida Fisher; sister, Katherine Fisher Haldane and much extended family and many dear friends.

A Funeral Service will be held at the Milford Presbyterian Church, 238 N. Main Street, Milford, on Saturday, September 14, at 11AM with Pastor Bryant Anderson officiating. Friends may visit at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty St., Milford, on Friday 4-9PM. Memorials may be made in his name to the Milford Presbyterian Church or to a charity of your choice.
