Obituary for Thomas R. Lloyd

Thomas R. Lloyd, 90, passed away peacefully October 12, 2010 after a short 3 month stint in the hospital from natural causes.
Mr. Lloyd was born on September 22, 1920 in Republic, Ohio on the family farm. He was one of six children.
Mr. Lloyd attended Tiffin University for two years studying business prior to entering the military. He later went on to Western Michigan University for flight school.
Captain Thomas Lloyd served as a pilot for both the Marines and the Navy being awarded numerous medals of distinction for both his service and his bravery. He later went on as an independent business owner to open the 1st Thrifty Rent A Car franchise in the Metro Detroit area. He was also active in community service spending countless hours volunteering with Meals on Wheels. Post retirement he spent many years working at Hartland Glenn�s Golf Course where his presence became a permanent fixture.
Mr. Lloyd is survived by his sister, Sarah, and three biological children: Carol Slotnick of Harbor Springs, MI, Richard Lloyd of Wixom, MI, and Marsha Dyer of Phoenix, AZ. In addition to the three biological children he is survived by four step children: Anne McKay of Montrose, MI, William Henry of Freeland, MI, Laura Schraw of South Lyon, and Barbara Lloyd of Wixom, MI. along with twelve grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Betty and 3 brothers, Gene, Marshall and Bill and one granddaughter, Ashlyn.
A �Celebration of Life� in his honor will be held at his son�s house, Richard Lloyd, in Wixom, MI.
