Obituary for Victor John Bolterstein

Victor John Bolterstein, age 61, of Commerce Twp. and a former resident of Rochester Hills, died on September 30, 2012 after a year-and-a-half-long battle with kidney cancer.

Vic was born in Detroit, Michigan to his loving parents, John and Sophie (nee Kuffner) Bolterstein. He spent his childhood in Detroit and graduated from De La Salle High School. He attended Wayne State University where he graduated with his BSEE and later earned his Masters Degree in Business Management from Central Michigan University During his career in the automotive industry, Vic worked as a Facilities Manager with Chrysler for twenty-five years and most recently as an Energy Engineer with Ford Motor Company.

It was during his time at Wayne State that Vic met his wife, Cindy Golota. They fell in love and later married at St. Christopher Catholic Church in Detroit in1974. They made their home in Rochester Hills, where they were blessed with the births of their daughters, Elyse and Andrea., They later moved to Commerce Township where they have lived for the past eight-and-a-half years.

It was evident to all who knew him that Vic was deeply committed to his family. As a loving husband and devoted father, his life revolved around band concerts, sporting events, and spending as much time as he could with his family, both at home and on their many vacations. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, golfing, travel and attending plays with Cindy. In the past few years, Vic and Cindy became involved with their community church, which not only introduced them to a new family of caring individuals, but also allowed them to strengthen their faith through giving back to the community.

As a logical engineer, Vic could always be counted on to provide a listening ear and help come up with a solution to any problem. He was well known for his sense of humor, his infectious enthusiasm, and his ability to bring joy into almost any situation. He was the definition of a good man, husband and father; and he will be dearly missed.

In addition to Cindy, Elyse and Andrea, he is survived by his son-in-law, Kevin Kauzlaric; his brother Rich Bolterstein and his wife Carol; his brothers-in-law: Raymond (Kathy) Golota, Alan Golota, and Jeffrey (Mary) Golota; his nieces and nephews: Alex, Bridget, Kyle, Ryan, Kelli, and Natalie; and many dear friends who join his family in mourning his passing and giving thanks to God for his life among them.

A Funeral Service will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty St., Milford, on Wednesday, October 3, at 5PM with Pastor Bob Smith officiating. Friends may visit on Wednesday from 2PM until the time of service and following the service until 9PM. Memorials may be made in his name to 2/42 Community Church or Angela Hospice.
