Obituary for Walter Frank Wendyker, Jr.

Walter “Wally” Wendyker, 89, of Milford, passed away on Thursday, November 11, 2021 with his family by his side.  He served as a soldier in the Korean War and retired after 43 years with Ford Motor Company in 1993.  He lived a full life; had a great sense of humor; and was a kind husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.  He could comfortably be found on his own backyard swing listening to country ballads with a cigar and Crown Royal in hand.

Wally enjoyed vintage cars, hunting, golf, photography, movies, and the outdoors, including his beautifully kept yard.  He was never known to pass up coffee or sweets, but most of all, he loved time spent with family.  He especially loved holidays and was known for saying that he enjoyed the celebrations more than the kids.  Wally leaves his family with fond memories of swimming in his pool, skating in his backyard ice rink, gazing at his gas-fueled bonfires, and a few well hidden Easter eggs to be found in the years to come.

Beloved husband of Shirley for 65 years. Loving father of Debbie Hughes (Keith), Diane Haige (Henry), Darlene Sampietro (Vince), David Wendyker (Janie), Doug Wendyker (Carrie). Devoted grandfather of Danielle DeVoll, Rochelle Hughes (Adam), Marissa Colony (Cale), Dana Aeschliman (Jake), Lindsey Sampietro, Kellen Frierdich, Nicholas Wendyker, Allie Wendyker (Erik), Quinn Wendyker, and Weston Wendyker. Proud great-grandfather of Layla, Brielle, Ezra, Emerson, Everett, Cade, Charlotte, Parker, and Reece. Dear brother of Lorraine and preceded in death by his siblings Irene, Nancy, Marty, Cecile, and Dorthy.

A celebration of Wally’s life will be held on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 from 3-8pm at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home 404 E. Liberty St., Milford 48381. A Rosary service will be held at 7:00pm.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at 12noon at the funeral home.
