Obituary for Walter Toll

Walter R. Toll, a resident of Hillman, Michigan, and a former long time resident of Wixom, passed from this life at Engleharts Assisted Living Home in Atlanta, Michigan on April 29th, 2010.
On March 3, 1938, Walter R. Toll was born to Frank Toll and Clara (Witt) Toll in Detroit, Michigan. His childhood was spent growing up in Troy, Michigan where he graduated and entered the Navy, with whom he joined during his senior year, serving from 1956 thru 1959. After faithfully serving his country, Walt went to work at General Motors in Romulus and there he proudly spent his time as a tool maker until his retirement on June 30, 2001. At that time, he and his wife, Charlene, decided to make their retirement residence in Hillman, Michigan in a beautiful log cabin to enjoy their time together. He loved to fish, spending many days on his pontoon boat on the lake, and also enjoyed fishing for salmon in Frankfort, Michigan. Walt was a fabulous golfer, and when the General Motors golf team heard of his skill, they wanted him to join their game and team. He even showed them a hole-in-one! Walt was, also, a loving and caring family man. He loved to go camping with his family, take the kids for bike rides, teach them how to fish, and even how to take out the hook and clean them! He was great with his hands and loved to play basketball, ping pong, or share a game of pool with his grandchildren. He loved to take drives, stopping at all the sales, and enjoyed the bargains he brought home.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Charlene; sons, Ted (Terry) Toll, Tim (Michelle) Toll, Kevin (Cathy) Toll; daughter, Jennifer (Mark) Light; grandchildren, Jon Light, Matthew Light, Randy, Sarah, and Amber Toll; brother, Richard (Rose) Novison and many extended family members and dear friends.

A Funeral Service will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty Street, Milford, on Monday, May 3, at 12 Noon, with Pastor Dave Hill officiating. Friends may visit Monday 10AM until the time of service. Cremation will follow. Memorials may be made in his name to the New Beginnings Church Building Fund, the Alzheimers Association or to the American Diabetes Association. For further information please phone 248-684-6645.
