Wanda Marie Hittinger of Milford, Michigan passed away peacefully on January 22, 2015. She was 81 years old. Born in Farmington Hills, she was the daughter of Thomas and Mary Elizabeth (McAllister) Carr.
Ms. Hittinger worked as a cook and waitress for many years, always staying in contact with friends and fellow workers through carefully written letters. With them she shared her love of music gospel and classic country music and news of her ever-expanding family, the ever-changing fortunes of her beloved Detroit Tigers whom she followed religiously, and the assurances of her quiet and abiding faith.
Wanda understood the gospel call to love one another, and believed in equality and fair play and the obligation to care for the least among us. She could not abide the mistreatment of others nor tolerate unkindness. As she watched the generations rise up around her she was an example of a warm heart, generous spirit and determination. She inspired family and friends and perfect strangers who saw in her the courage to make her own way in the world and always be of service to others.
She is survived by her loving children, Ronda (Dave) Jenkins, Kim (Keith) Semaan, Elizabeth Lawson, Janice (Howard) McDonald, Cliff (Lisa) Hittinger, Angela Williams; 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren Also survived by many loving extended family and dear friends.
