William Bill Benjamin, a resident of Wixom, died at Huron Valley Sinai Hospital in Commerce Township on Sunday, August 8, 2010. He was 80 years old. Born in Detroit on March 11, 1930, the son of Harry and Merle (Cobleigh) Benjamin, Bill grew up in Detroit and in his early twenties would meet Rosada Joyce Brown, the love of his life. On June 19, 1954 Bill & Joyce were married in the First Presbyterian Church in Plymouth, Michigan. The newlyweds settled in Novi where they began making their first home before moving to Milford in 1959, where they raised their daughters Renee and Kathy. After a lifetime of work in the financial industry, Bill retired from the Raymond James & Associates in 2008. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing and his memberships with Edgewood Hunt Club and the Edgewood Country Club where he golfed frequently. He loved horse racing enough to own several of his own racers and wouldve boarded them in the house if Joyce would have allowed.
Bill will be remembered for his strong and generous heart and the endearing nicknames he assigned to each of his family members. He was a loving husband, proud father and always regarded his lifes greatest achievement, his family.
In addition to Joyce, his beloved wife of 56 years, Bill is survived by his daughters, Renee (Robert) Kropp, Kathy Pyke; grandchildren; William Kropp, Brittany, Stephanie, Jacob Pyke; brother, Harry Benjamin; and other extended family members and dear friends who join in mourning his death while sharing in gratitude for Bills life among them.
Friends and family will gather Tuesday, August 10, 3-8 PM at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty St., Milford, MI 48381. Funeral Services will be private. Memorials can be made in Bills name to the Pediatric Cardiology department at C.S. Mott Children's Hospital. For further information please phone 248.684.6645
