Obituary for William H. "Bill" Goulding

William Harold Goulding, a long time resident of Milford, passed away at his home on February 6, 2009. He was 88 years old. Born on May 18, 1920, the son of William and Thelma (Sitti) Goulding, Bill grew up in Detroit where he was a graduate of Bishop Foley High School. Following high school he served in the U.S. Army during WWII in the Battle of the Bulge. Later, Bill operated a Cab Company in Detroit; he spent many years managing the furniture department for Federals Department Stores. Later he began another chapter in his life with Century 21, with whom he enjoyed working as a real estate agent for many years until his retirement. He met and married Helen Adams in the Fall of 69 and they built a life together that would last almost forty years.
Bill was very proud of his home he built on S. Stone Barn Road in Milford, where he lived for ten years, before moving to Ridgewood. At home he
enjoyed his dogs, Pookie and Corky, and loved listening to Frank Sinatra, watching golf, the Tigers, Red Wings, and U of M Football on his television. The remote control was a part of his hand. In his spare time he lived to golf and enjoyed speaking of his pro golfer friends, Arnie, Chi Chi, and Jack; and, of course, Frank Sinatra whom he had the opportunity to meet a couple times in his life. Bill and Helen lived in Naples, Florida for a while. There, he would cut the grass in tall boots and with a pistol, for fear of snakes and large spiders. Bill collected vintage model cars, was very proud of his big blue Cadillac convertible, and dinner was never complete without serving him a big sweet gloppy dessert.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Helen; brother-in-law, Gerald Jasiunas; daughter, Jan (Nino) Tanzini of Milford; step-daughter, Nancy Adams of Novi; grandchildren, Nicole, Nino, Staci, Randy, Carl, Cathie, Mike, Kathy; great grandchildren, Mike, Brenden, Dante, Hunter, Bennett, and Brady.

His love, his laughter and his Archie Bunker convoluted logic will live on in our hearts forever.

A Funeral service will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty, Milford, Tuesday, February 10, 2009, at 10 AM, with the Rev. Dr. R. John Harris officiating. Friends may visit Sunday 3 - 8 PM, and Monday 3 8 PM. For further information please phone 248-684-6645.
