Obituary for Phyllis Jean Richmond

Phyllis Jean Richmond, a resident of Waterford, and former resident of Milford and Lapeer, died on December 22, 2020 at the age of 86.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Carlton Richmond in 2008, her daughter, Donna Jean Dollan, her parents, Richard J. and Bertha Hoggard Toncray, brothers and sisters-in-law, Richard J. (Clara) Toncray Jr. and Donald (Peggy) Toncray.

She is survived by her daughters, Terri (Ken) Frankenstein and Penny Riley (Harlen Lantz); her sons, Jim (Melanie) Richmond and Joe Richmond (Jae Alamea); thirteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren; her brother, Ben (Jackie) Toncray; sisters-in-law, Diane Richmond and Nancy (Ed) Kline; brothers-in-law, Carl Winans and Gary Richmond, and many loving cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Phyllis stayed busy, as a devoted wife and mother working from home with a husband and five children. Living in a close-knit Waterford neighborhood, she was to many the neighborhood mom, especially, after taking a Red Cross 1st Aid class. Phyllis enjoyed traveling to visit friends and relatives, and later in life went to Europe visiting several countries. Phyllis enjoyed bowling and reading. She also took great pleasure making quilts for her many grandchildren. Phyllis and her late husband Donald, lived up north for a number of years and they spent many hours volunteering at St. Paul Lutheran Church soup kitchen in Lapeer.

A PRIVATE Funeral Service will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty St., Milford, on Tuesday December 29, 2020 with burial in Lakeside Cemetery in Holly.
Memorials may be made in her name to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Lapeer.
