GRIEF & HEALING

each stage of the grieving process.
Martha Jo Abercrombie, 83, of Highland, Michigan passed away on Friday, January 7, 2022.
A true matriarch. Martha loved her family, watching it grow, and was blessed to be a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend to many.
She was born in Highland Park, Michigan on September 25, 1938 to the late Charles and Anna Hoffrichter. In her youth, her family spent time in Mt. Morris, Michigan before coming to Milford, Michigan where she would call home for many, many years. Her family owned the C&D Market in Milford where she helped work at the store. She graduated from Milford High School and as a teenager, met the love of her life, Bill Abercrombie, at what was once called the “Teen Canteen”. The two of them were married on May 25, 1957 and started a family. She continued to work at the market before later working at Breen’s, and later spent time watching and caring for grandchildren, all before her favorite job working for the Huron Valley Schools, where she spent 10 years in food service before retiring from Huron Valley Schools.
Martha was a hands on mom, always keeping the kids in check, yet finding ways to have fun and make moments memorable. Her husband worked for Pontiac Motors at the GM Proving Grounds, but the family always enjoyed going to Georgia to visit Bill’s family as well. In her free moments, Martha loved to dance. She could Polka, do the Jitterbug, or casually do the Slide at any given moment across the floor. She also loved older country music.
But it was time spent with family that brought her the greatest joy. Especially Christmas time. She loved to bake, make cookies, and play Christmas music, all while bringing family together. Her family gave her a wonderful 80th birthday party where she got a chance to see so many people and have all of her family together. Martha will be greatly missed by not only her family, but by all who crossed her path in life.
Beloved wife of the late Bill Abercrombie for 36 years. Loving mother of Anna “Sue” Flanagan (Mike), Julie Fabrizio (Philip), and Bill Abercrombie (Jane). Devoted grandmother of Michael Flanagan (Judan), Brian Flanagan (Lauren), C.J. Hadding (Jamie), Christa Warner (Jason), Becky St. Amour, Amanda Tesolin, Kelly Abercrombie, Kayla Abercrombie, and Billy Abercrombie (fiance Katie O’Connor). Proud “Gigi” of Alysha Keeling, Ella Flanagan, Brendan Hadding, Blake Hadding, Avery Flanagan, Will Flanagan, Landen Warner, Joey Flanagan, Phillip Tesolin, Hannah Tesolin, Brooklyn Warner, and Mirabelle St. Amour and the late Carson and Copper Leonhardt. Dear sister of Mary Browe (the late Dick), Joe Hoffrichter, and the late Charles Hoffrichter (the late Jeano), the late Dick Hoffrichter (the late Betty), the late Barbara George (the late “Jigs”), and the late Paul Hoffrichter (the late Ellen).
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 from 4:00pm-7:00pm at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home 404 E. Liberty St. Milford, MI 48381.
Out of kindness, the family requests that all visitors wear a mask while at the funeral home.
