Richard R. Reid, Jr., a resident of Milford, passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, August 1, 2009. He was 73 years old. Born in Pontiac, MI on October 26, 1935, the son of Richard Sr. & Margaret Reid. Richard grew up in Milford and graduated from Milford High School, class of '55. On one fine day at Jack's Hamburger Diner on Main street, he was introduced to the love of his life, a southern girl named Faye Ross. They began their courtship, falling fast in love before they married on July 1,1957. Mr. & Mrs. Reid made their home in Milford and were later blessed with the births of their children, Debra, Brenda, Rachel and Richard, III. "Dick," as he was known to his friends and coworkers through Ford Motor Company, began his 46 year career on the assembly line before becoming a diecast operator. Throughout his work and in retirement, he was well regarded for his desire to help others in need and for his ability to befriend a perfect stranger. He was extremely proud of his children & grandchildren and grateful for the blessings of his family. In his leisure time around the home, Dick could be found engaged in various improvements, cleaning anything in need of attention and maintaining the yard. He enjoyed his Suzuki and Honda motorcycles and chopping wood for the wood burning fireplace. In fellowship with others, he also enjoyed his membership and activity with Freedom Life Church of God in Milford.

Mr. Reid was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Faye Reid in 2004. In addition to his loving daughters, Debra Reid of Milford, Brenda (Rick) North of Linden, Rachel (Jack) Reid-Turnblom of Fenton and son, Richard (Jennifer) Reid, III of Fenton, he is survived by his grandchildren, Ricky, Rhondi, Dillon, Rebekah, Reina, Beau, Ella; sisters, Mary Markell of Whitmore Lake, Rose (John) Ingles of Louisiana; several nieces, nephews and dear friends.

A Funeral Service will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty, Milford on Thursday, August 6 at 11AM with Pastor Richard Reid, III and Pastor Mark Fernandez officiating. Burial St. Mary's Cemetery, Milford. Friends may visit on Tuesday 5-9PM and Wednesday 2-9PM. Memorials made to American Cancer Society or Feed The Children are appreciated.
