Fredrick S. Hackett, of Livonia, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2013. He was 92 years old.
Fred was born in Nova Scotia, Canada on November 17, 1920 to Frederick and Mabel (nee. Soper) Hackett. Following graduation from Mackenzie High School in Detroit, Fred enlisted in the Army Air Corps during World War II and served as an aircraft inspector. Upon his return, Fred was set up with the love of his life, Kathleen Boomer, at a friend's wedding on Valentine's day. Fred and Kathleen were later married on February 14, 1947. The couple raised their family of four in Livonia and Fred enjoyed his work as a delivery man for Mills and Awery bakeries. He was proud of his military service and was a member of the American Legion Post 290 in Farmington Hills for many years. Fred loved to play golf, watch the Detroit Tigers and cherished the time spent with his family.
Preceded in death by his son Frederick James (Marie) Hackett and two brothers, Frederick is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Kathleen Mary Rose Hackett; daughter, Kathleen Cheryl Vaughn; grandchildren, Brett (Sue) Vaughn, Carrie Moulton, Frederick (Sara) Hackett, Kyle (Mariah) Hackett; great grandchildren, Eliana and Gabriella Hackett, Noah, Ryan and Molly Ann Vaughn, McKenna and Benjamin Moulton and extended family and friends.
A Funeral Service will be held at Lynch & Sons Funeral Home, 404 E. Liberty, Milford on Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at 11 AM. Pastor Allen Kannapell to officiate. Friends may visit the funeral home on Tuesday, July 2nd from 3-8 PM. Burial & Military honors will take place at Great Lakes National Cemetery on Friday, July 5th at 10:30 AM.
